I've had it....
by Country_Woman inyesterday evening my dog got an epileptic attack - peeing all over the tapestry and almost glueing at the floor with the foam at his mouth (it is very hard to remove).
after the attack he wanted to "walk" pacing up the room (and backyard) for a long time.. .
this night he was whining a lot - wanting outside... (which i allowed for at least 5 times - thus having not much sleep myself).

We have 2 dogs and lots of cats.
My furrbabies are my family and are nicer than most people I know and am related to.

Have you recieved any "gifts"?
by upside/down ini have read from day one how dubs aren't restricted by worldly holidays (specifically c'mas and b'days) as they can give gifts any day of the year.. i married into a huge dub clan.
to this day (20years and counting) i have never recieved a gift from anyone.
my cheap ass dub bosses never even gave an end of the year bonus (totoally tax deductible).

This is the first year that I didn't get my JW inlaws, nieces and nephews, and sisters in laws gifts.
I did it every year my husband and I have been together.
Not once did they say thank you.
I don't buy gifts anymore for people who don't say thank you.
These are the same relatives who get the holiday food boxes from welfare and free toys from Toys 4 Tots.
But they don't celebrate holidays.
This really burns my butt!

WT Letter about elders' sins
by IT Support insomeone recently posted a topic which included a link to a wt letter to bodies of elders.
the letter stated that if an elder confessed to having committed a serious (i.e.
disfellowshippable) sin a number of years ago, and nobody knew about it, he need not be removed.

THE WORST THING ABOUT THE BORG ??????????
by vitty inwhat was the worse thing while you where in the "truth".
for me, it felt that everynight was a meeting night, the relentlous pressure getting to the meetings.. for my husband, apart from the meetings, it was the never ending assiments.
for my teenage son, it must have been field service.

It really made me angry and my husband also went to the elders.
I have a big non-submissive mouth and when he would come in after that I would yell out during the service - PLEASE CLOSE THE DOOR I AM BREASTFEEDING MY SON - STOP LOOKING AT MY BREASTS.
They don't care about women and their feelings.
The Elders at our hall were just a bunch of perverts and nasties.
I say this because when my husband came back they questioned him about what we do in the bedroom and how we did it.
I think he feels if he had given them all the details he wouldn't be on reproof.
So glad he is fading away.

Best Bible Translation?

over the years i have tried various strategies to deal with this, which i won't go into here...except that i have agreed to "read the bible" with my wife...and i get to pick the translation.. what translation would be best recommended to help highlight the errors of the nwt and jw thinking in general?
i have seen here that today's english version has been recommended...anything else?

I just don't think that the NIV is the best representation of what the words actually mean when put together.
Although it does give you the feeling of the bible and what its trying to say.....but then again so does the NWT.
Neither one if you read it is going to hurt you but if you really want to study I think you need the most accurate translation you can get.

Obesity vs. Smoking - which is worse?

when i was going to the kingdumb hall people were being actively disfellowshipped for smoking because it was bad for you and an insult to jehovah.. how come nobody disfellowshipped the 400 pound sister who brought her own chair or stood in the back because she couldn't fit in her chair?.
why didn't anyone disfellowship the bookstudy leader for looking pregnant when he obviously wasn't.. why is cigarette addiction bad but not food addiction.. just wondering?

As someone who has been extremely obese - morbidly obese - as the doctors call it.
And now as someone who is thin.
I definately notice a difference in my personality and physical wellness.
I am happier now that I am thin.
I feel less like people are judging me and definately less defensive.
I'm not the obnoxious fat lady - now I am the spunky thin lady.
There is a difference - if you are fat you're obnoxious - thin you're spunky or vivacious.
I also used to smoke although have quit for many years....but I still crave a menthol cigarette from time to time.
I find walking through cigarette smoke to get into a store or restaurant repulsive and I think I was definately a considerate smoker.
I never smoked around people unless they were smoking too.
Both are extremely dangerous to the body unless you have super healthy genes and nothing will phase them!
Today though, I will take a frozen 3 muskateers bar over a cigarette.
No more smoking for me - I have kids. No no no.
